Wool in Australia business

This page is under construction

We had some difficulties in working out how to structure this page. Should we focus on those who would like to become growers, on those who wanted to establish businesses based on Australian wool?

So, and consistent with our overall site policy, we decide to give you a range of references and let you decide.

First established as a subsidiary of Australian Wool Services in 2001, Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) became a fully independent public company limited by shares and owned by Australian woolgrowers in 2002. Its mission is to drive research, development and innovation that will increase the long-term profitability of Australian woolgrowers.

AWI initiates, commissions and delivers research and development (R&D) to Australian woolgrowers. It works through alliances and contracts and, where possible, it also commercialise R&D outcomes. Its primary aim is the adoption of technology - on farm and along the global wool pipeline.

It also provides trade development and market intelligence services on behalf of Australian woolgrowers. It's role here is to provide government with economic and social data to support Australian representations to other nations. For more information see http://www.wool.com.au/.

Australian Wool Services specialises in the commercialisation of wool technologies and innovations, technical consulting, business information and commercial testing of wool fabrics. Through ownership and licensing of the Woolmark, Woolmark Blend and Wool Blend it provides worldwide quality endorsement. More information see http://www.wool.com/.

The Australian Wool and Sheep Industry Taskforce was established to provide a united, coordinated voice for the industry to communicate with key stakeholder groups. Its site - http://www.woolisbest.com/  - contains a range of general information about wool and the wool industry.
